TRAVERSE CITY -- Orchard Lake St. Mary's scored a pair of third-period goals to lock up back-to-back titles in the Traverse City Central Holiday Hockey Tournament.

The host Trojans were only a goal down going into the third, playing right with the No. 2-ranked team in Division 1 before falling 5-2.

"It was a good game," Central coach Chris Givens said. "It was 3-2 going into the third period."

The shots on goal were dead even, with both teams registering 19.

"I was really happy with limiting them to 19 shots," Givens said. "If you'd tell me before the game that we'd hold them to 19, I don't know I'd believe that. We played gritty and struck our noses right in there. It's a good game to build on for us."

Caleb Morgan tied the game at 2-2 at the 9:05 mark of the second period before the Eaglets went up 3-2 on a power-play goal with a minute left in the period.

Alex Wietrick scored for Central (5-6) in the first period, sandwiched between Orchard Lake tallies. Jared VanWormer assisted on Wietrick's power-play score, while Max Schrank and Adam Swy set up Morgan's.

Bill Vermetten made 14 saves for the Trojans, who host Petoskey next Wednesday and travel to Cadillac Jan. 8 for a pair of league games
